Kathleen Jasinskas, Soprano
“...[sings with] a lovely, lyrical voice and full-bodied expressiveness.”
— Triangle Arts and Entertainment

Kathleen Jasinskas is a native of Kansas City, KS and currently resides in Durham, NC. Her early career centered on opera, where she was hailed as “a joy to watch” as Despina in Così fan tutte and “charming” as Yum-Yum in The Mikado. She made her North Carolina Opera debut as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, and has also appeared as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera.

Since her move to the Triangle in 2014, sacred repertoire has taken center stage, and Triangle Arts and Entertainment praises her “lovely, lyrical voice and full-bodied expressiveness.” Local audiences have enjoyed Kathleen as soprano soloist in both the Mozart and Fauré Requiems, Haydn’s Mass No. 6 in G, Schubert’s Mass in C, and Handel’s Messiah. She has been a featured soloist with Duke Chapel’s Bach Cantata Series, the NC State Choral Artists, and the Concert Singers of Cary, and was a longstanding member of the Evensong Singers here at the Chapel.

Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice from The Juilliard School, where she was a four-year Rosalinda Longo scholar. She made her Alice Tully Hall recital debut during her time at Juilliard, and spent the following years presenting recitals across the country featuring a song cycle written for her by friend and colleague Reena Esmail. After completing Young Artist training at Des Moines Metro Opera, Shreveport Opera, and Opera New Jersey, Kathleen went on to earn a Master of Music in Opera from Binghamton University, where she was the winner of the University Symphony’s Concerto Competition.

Offstage, Kathleen is the founder and Artistic Director of Skylark Music School in Chapel Hill, where she and her team bring the joy of music to over 250 students each year. She can also be found in the orchestra pit playing viola or music directing for local theater companies. Kathleen is an enthusiastic Bull City resident, and serves the community as a real estate agent with Triangle Key by Flex Realty. She is the proud mother of two beautiful children, Owen and Isobel.
